Northies Voice: A controlled school newsroom and media-sharing system

A controlled school newsroom and media-sharing system

Client project

Client system built for Northern Academy. Northies Voice is the school’s newsroom, with restricted access to learner media and staff collaboration.

Access-controlled school newsroom

The problem

What the organisation needed.

Northern Academy needed a disciplined school-media system for its team—with clear roles, editorial approval, consent controls, and records—without turning learner media into broadly discoverable public content.

What we built

One connected operating environment.

A controlled school newsroom for editorial approvals, staff collaboration, consent records and deliberate sharing of approved media.

Northern Academy's role-based school newsroom, built to manage approval, teams, content, media, and controlled sharing without creating open public pages.

System spotlight

Share only the approved media—and revoke it when needed

The school domain is closed by default. Authorised users share exact approved media packages through opaque, revocable links that can carry a passcode, expiry, view limit, and download permission—making access to school content deliberate and auditable.

A workflow inside the system

  1. 01

    Prepare

Teams draft articles, newsletters, photos and other school media.

  2. 02

    Review

Editorial decisions and consent records govern approval.

  3. 03

    Share

Authorised users create explicit packages of approved material.

  4. 04

    Control

Expiry, permissions and revocation manage access over time.

Inside the system

The working parts.

The capabilities below describe what was built for this project. Your organisation’s system is scoped around its own people, rules and workflows.

A closed public domain and controlled media-sharing gateway for approved school media
Opaque, 256-bit, revocable Share Packages with optional passcode, expiry, maximum views, download permission, asset membership, and audit statistics
A protected newsroom for school teams, with roles, team defaults, custom permissions, and account deactivation
Content workflows for articles, photos, social content, termly newsletters, and podcasts
Draft, submitted, review, changes-requested, approved, rejected, scheduled, and published states
Authorised page and content editing with authenticated preview; publishing makes consent-cleared media eligible for explicit sharing, not anonymous public URLs
Media uploads, library metadata, versions, internal comments, consent records, and takedown requests
Private team and organisation channels, announcements, moderation, tasks, deadlines, schedules, and meetings
Notifications and activity logs for sign-ins, account changes, content, uploads, publishing, and communication
Password recovery, login-attempt throttling, and controlled Super Admin resets

The system is designed for controlled school media sharing, not anonymous public publication. It preserves the school attribution while keeping access to approved material intentional.

The result

What the system makes possible.

School teams can coordinate content and review permissions in one workspace. Approved media is shared through explicit, revocable packages, allowing the school to control access without opening learner content to anonymous public discovery.

This describes delivered operational capability. It is not a quantified claim about time saved, revenue or customer satisfaction.
