Backup & Recovery Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
Backup and recovery are planned per system, according to how critical the data is and what the client's operations can tolerate.
Planning approach
- Source code is version-controlled with off-machine copies
- Databases for production systems are backed up on a schedule agreed with the client
- Backups are stored separately from the primary system where the hosting platform supports it
- Recovery objectives (how much data loss and downtime is tolerable) are agreed per engagement
- Restores are the true test of a backup — recovery paths are verified, not assumed
Client responsibilities
Where a client hosts a system on their own infrastructure or account, backup execution may sit with the client or their hosting provider. In those cases we help plan and configure the backup approach, and the division of responsibility is recorded in the engagement agreement.
